Thank you for your interest in joining Massachusetts-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team/National Disaster Medical System/Department of Health and Human Services (MA-1 DMAT/NDMS/DHHS).
All NDMS personnel are required to complete online training courses IS-700.a, IS-800.b, IS-100.b (or other IS-100 course) and IS-200.a, available online at the Emergency Management Institute. It’s strongly recommended that you complete these courses before applying, and include the completion certificates in your application package.
Job opportunities are posted on USAjobs.gov when openings are available. Visit the Apply Online link and scroll to the bottom of the page to access current openings.
NDMS personnel are paid while serving as part-time federal employees and have the protection of the Federal Tort Claims Act in which the Federal Government becomes the defendant to provide interstate aid in the event of a malpractice claim.
Your non-NDMS employment is protected for approved trainings and deployments under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) as provided by 42 U.S.C. 300hh-11(d)(3), as long as you comply with the eligibility requirements.
